Philadelphia’s budget shapes our daily lives. It determines how the city allocates funding for schools, public safety, housing, sanitation, parks, and neighborhood services.
Join the Committee of Seventy, Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication, and the People’s Budget Office for a nonpartisan virtual watch party of the Mayor’s Budget Address. The program will begin with a brief Budget 101 overview to provide context for the Mayor’s remarks. We will outline where the city is in the budget timeline, clarify who is responsible for making key decisions, and explain how residents can participate during the upcoming phases of budget season.
We will then watch the address together, with moderators providing context and answering questions in the chat. They will also share resources to help participants stay engaged in the weeks ahead.
What to Expect:
A brief, accessible Budget 101 overview
Live screening of the Mayor’s Budget Address
Real-time chat and Q&A
Information on how to participate in upcoming budget hearings
Whether you regularly follow City Hall or are new to the budget process, this event will help you better understand what is being proposed and what opportunities exist for public input.
